The Lesbian and Gay Community Funding Partnership was established in 1997 through a generous grant from the National Lesbian and Gay Community Funding Partnership. The Santa Fe site is now one of 38 Partnerships throughout the country and since its inception has made 73 grants totaling $323,765 to 35 nonprofit organizations. 2008 Lesbian & Gay Funding Partnership Grant Guidelines We will contact you in late July about your grant status.
2007 Lesbian & Gay Funding Partnership Grant Awards Girls, Inc. $3,500. To educate girls and encourage them to effectively communicate, stand up for themselves, and increase their own and others' understanding and appreciation of LGBT concerns. IMPACT Personal Safety. $3,000. To increase how safe elders feel; teach verbal and physical self-defense skills to elders (age 55+) of the LGBTQ community. PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays). $2,500. To provide education, advocacy and support to the Santa Fe immigrant and Spanish speaking LGBTQ community. Santa Fe Mountain Center. $3,500. To create safe environments in schools; educate the school community about homophobia, gender identity, and sexual orientation issues and stop discrimination, harassment, and violence in schools through strong Gay Straight Alliances. Santa Fe Rape Crisis and Trauma Treatment Center. $6,000. To teach anti-oppression, prejudice-reduction, and diversity honoring experiential workshops to middle and high school students, and providing training for faculty through YODA (Youth Organizing Diversity for All). The Dream Tree Project. $5,000. To provide a safe place for the Gay Straight Alliance to meet and participate in suicide prevention activities in alignment with the Taos High School program. Wise Fool New Mexico. $3,000. To support outreach and accessibility for young queer women to attend Women's Circus Workshop Intensive, BUST, a powerful and often life changing theatre arts experience created and staffed by queer women artists. Lesbian and Gay Funding Grant Program Grants are available for programs serving the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) population. The average size Lesbian and Gay Funding grant in 2007 was $3,800 with a range from $3,000-$6,000. Lesbian and Gay Funding Grant Priorities Through these grants, SFCF hopes to raise awareness of issues affecting LGBT people in Northern New Mexico. We seek proposals that are collaborative, visionary, and reflective of our region’s cultural and geographic diversity. We are interested in helping nonprofits that serve LGBT people streamline and strengthen their internal operations. SFCF is interested in supporting organizations and programs that: · Identify creative approaches to addressing the needs of LGBT populations · Use collaboration and partnerships with other organizations · Provide access to counseling, education, mentoring and other resources · Foster safe schools and social spaces · Work toward prevention of teen suicide · Have a potential for lasting impact
· Respect cultural values and use culturally appropriate means · Youth Opportunities for building peer relationships; increase awareness and dissemination of information on LGBT community needs and issues; and assistance with family and legal issues · Elderly Programs that address immediate needs for the senior LGBT population and programs that increase the understanding and sensitivity to senior LGBT issues among service providers · Community Building Advancement of equal rights; opportunities for safe congregation and/or social events; strengthening avenues for networking and information sharing; providing culturally appropriate services for minority groups; research to support the needs of LGBT people; creative forms of arts and expression used to increase public awareness, understanding and appreciation of LGBT concerns and deepen LGBT self-identity; fostering a climate of understanding through community education and other outreach efforts, including with faith-based communities; and training of service providers and community leaders · Health and Mental Health Services addressing the health needs of youth, adults and the elderly and programs and services that provide care in a safe and respectful setting For more information contact Amy Duggan at 505.988.9715, ext. 2.
